The ‘kuman bahek’ or picnic is a much loved tradition where the people get together at scenic spots at river banks to socialise besides eating, drinking, singing traditional songs and dancing, a form of activity that can help enhance ties and harmony.

KUCHING: The RM7.5 billion Bakun hydroelectric power (HEP) Dam will officially make available 300 megawatt of power to the grid system starting today, revealed Sarawak Hidro chief executive officer cum managing director Zulkifle Osman.

By Peter Sibon, KUCHING: The vital ‘reliability run’ of Bakun Hydroelectric Dam will start today (July 6, 2011) before power can be tapped for commercialisation by Aug 6, says Sarawak Hidro Sdn Bhd managing director and chief executive officer Zulkiflie Osman. He said the ‘reliability run’ which is the last phase in a series of trial runs before commercialisation must be carried out within one month.
